The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has special awards that it presents, in addition to the Oscars that we are all familiar with for Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Costume Design, and so forth. One of those special awards is the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award which is given to an “individual in the motion picture industry whose humanitarian efforts have brought credit to the industry.”
